THOUSANDS of people across North Wales gathered at memorials and churches to commemorate the fallen as part of nationwide services for Remembrance Sunday.
People in Prestatyn, Rhuddlan, Rhyl, Meliden and Bodelwyddan all turned out to pay their respect to British servicemen and women lost in wars throughout the 20th and 21st centuries.
Representatives for the Royal British Legion were encouraged by the massive public response to the events, which included a growth in the number of young people attending memorial events throughout the area.
Sharon Keeting, Rhyl branch secretary for the Royal British Legion, said: "Both collections and numbers of people were up beyond belief. There seemed to be quite a good increase. The Memorial Gardens were choc-a-bloc - people were standing in five deep rows."
