RHYL’S Under 15s turned on the style at the weekend to record a crushing 56-5 win over Caernarfon.
Alex Jones started the rout by charging over following good work by Sean Lonsdale from the lineout, who added his own shortly after.
Another two from Shane Brooks and a pair of Morgan Jones conversions put Rhyl out of sight by half time, and second half tries from Ryan Williams, James Bluthin, Ross Hughes and Ben Spencer extended the lead even further.
Man of the match Matty Jones sealed the win with a superb individual try, picking the ball up in his own 22 and running the length of the pitch.
Rhyl’s Under 14s were also weekend winners, recovering from going behind to win 32-17.
Rhyl went in 20-5 up at the break, with the second period a closer affair after Rhyl made six changes to ensure the whole team played their part. Jed Dilworth scored four tries for Rhyl with Max Copeland and Harrison Cunnah adding one apiece with Cunnah also kicking the goals.
The new coaching team of Rhyl’s Under 9s picked up an excellent 4-2 win in the first of their games with Caernarfon.
Captain Owen Reece Jones and Tomos Harrison got on the scoresheet, and man of the match Tobias Millar added another two.
Strong driving in the tackles from Joshua Smith and Matthew Yeomans contributed to the win, though Rhyl ended up second best in match two, losing 3-1 with Conor Mckenna scoring.
Rhyl Under 10s came unstuck 28-7 in their match with Caernarfon.
Rhyl’s only try was scored by Sol Williams and converted by Osian Bradshaw-Evans.
The Under 12s also lost out in a 19-5 defeat, with man of the match Harry Wasdell scoring the only points of the first half. Caernarfon came back in the second half to score 19 points without reply.
Rhyl’s Under 13s also went down against strong Gwynedd opponents, with Iwan Griffiths impressing at full-back and Joshua Alsop scoring a superb try in a 54-17 loss.
