A CONVENIENCE store in Pensarn is set to close later this month due to poor trading figures.

The Somerfield store on Marine Road will close its doors on Saturday, Novemeber 26, with a number of staff members set to be transferred over to nearby Co-operative stores.

A spokesperson for The Co-operative Group said: “The Co-operative Group can confirm that the Somerfield store on Marine Road, Abergele, is due to close on Saturday 26 November.”

“The closure is due to the store's poor trading performance. It is not, in any way, a reflection on the commitment and hard work of the store team.

“Every effort will be made to redeploy as many as possible of the seven full-time and 16 part-time staff with The Co-operative, or to help them find alternative employment.”
