RHYL’S Junior section were out in force again at the weekend, with Under 7s through to Under 13s all in action against Colwyn Bay.
The Under 7s and 8s played two matches against Colwyn Bay, winning both ties.
The first match was a close contest with excellent play from both teams with Rhyl narrowly sealing a win with a last minute try from Paddy Nelson, with Tom Garbutt, Sion Roberts, Rowan Pritchard and Delyth Speakman also scoring for the home side.
The second though was a one-sided affair, with Rhyl running out 7-2 winners.
Ethan Williams scored the pick of the bunch with a great solo effort, whilst Paddy Nelson and Sion Roberts both touched down twice, with Osian Bert and Luke Jones completed the scoring.
The newly formed Rhyl Under 9’s continued to improve in their third match of the season, losing 3-2 in their first game against the Bay, with Tomos Harrison scoring both, before bouncing back with a 5-0 victory.
Conor McKenna ran in two tries, one a brilliant solo effort breaking several tackles, whilst Tobias Millar and Aled Jones also got on the scoresheet and Kai Wilson and man of the match Tomos Harrison also had excellent games.
The Under 10s put in the performance of the day with a superb nine try victory.
Aggressive rucking by the home side led to frequent turn-over ball and break away tries, with James Fielding superb at fly-half to score five tries.
The fast improving George Richards and Liam Roose both scored their first tries of the season, whilst Sol Williams and Troy Billington added a try apiece and Osian Bradshaw-Evans and Liam Roberts shared the kicking duties, converting five from nine.
The Under 12s continued their progress in their first season of 15 man rugby with an encouraging performance against a well drilled Bay side.
Hard work in training began to show dividends as well worked moves lead to three tries from Michel Hughes, Owen Jones and man of the match Harry Wasdell who also kicked a conversion, whilst Oliver Rowan and Connor Snape made several crucial try saving tackles.
Rhyl U13s travelled to Colwyn Bay and put up a spirited fight, as two tries either side of half time and a couple of conversions saw them go down 24-0.
