ABERGELE lost out in their derby clash with Colwyn Bay at the weekend, losing 14-28 despite taking an early lead.
In the first league clash between the two local rivals, Gareth Evans kicked a brace of penalties early on to capitalise on some ill-discipline from the visitors, but three tries from the Bay handed them a 21-6 lead at the break.
Winger Chris Morris crossed over for the revitalised Green Army midway through the second period to spark homes of a fightback, with Evans adding the conversion, but another try from the visitors sealed a bonus points win.
Rhyl’s impressive season continued though with a 26-0 spanking of Llanidloes, and the Dragons will travel to Newtown in the Swalec Bowl on November 5, whilst Gele also hit the road with a first round tie at Dolgellau.
Rhyl visit Wrexham this weekend, whilst Abergele hope to get back on track against a Machynlleth side still looking for their first away win of the season.
