KINMEL Bay councillors want to hear from young people in the town with their suggestions on a planned skate park.
The Town Council is inviting skateboard and BMX users from the area to attend an open meeting today (Wednesday) to provide further consultation on the facility’s design an features.
Cllr Ken Stone, Mayor for Towyn and Kinmel Bay, called on young people from the area to have their say on the new community facility.
“We wants as many kids as we can to get in contact and let us know what they want. It’s much better for them to let us know, that way we don’t have to keep updating them.
“We set up a Facebook group which has had plenty of hits, but not many comments.”
The skate part is the first part of a three year plan put together by the council to create a community facility next to the Kinmel Bay bowling green, which would also include a multi use games area and a fitness park for senior citizens.
“It’s part of a three year project we’re looking to get together,” Cllr. Stone said.
“Next year we hope to have a MUGA, and then a playpark for the young kids and a senior citizens play area. The skate part is just the first part of the plan, which will be for the whole of Kinmel Bay.”
The meeting takes place at 6.30pm at the Kinmel Bay Resource Centre.
