A VETERAN of the stage is returning to Rhyl to tread the boards.
As one of the seven dwarfs in the Snow White pantomime at the Rhyl Pavilion, which begins on December 9, Glynn Jones brings a sprinkle of magic to the proceedings.
Glynn said: “I’ve never worked with these (actors) before. Sometimes it’s nice to work with a fresh crew.
“For years I worked with the same seven, and we all knew what we could do and that we could work with each other. When you’re working with someone new you’re wondering what they are going to be like.”
Glynn, who has worked in showbusiness since 1979, has a long list of illustrious co-stars, including the legendary Su Pollard of Hi-de-Hi fame, who he described as “crackers”.
He also worked as part of the smash hit Ladyboys of Bangkok production for 11 years.
He said: “As much goes into this as a RSC production or a West End Musical. There’s a big back stage effort.”
“One thing about the Rhyl Pavilion is they never use kids for the dwarfs - they always use real dwarfs. It’s an extra bit of magic.
“As soon as they (the children) first start to hear the tune (Hi Ho) you feel the atmosphere change. It’s fun. Seeing their faces is fantastic.”
Like this year’s Wicked Queen, Tupele Dorgu, Glynn counts the camaraderie and after-show fun as something to look forward to.
He said: “The best part? I like all of it. Having a laugh with everyone. It’s a big part of my life. It’s good to have a career you enjoy and lasts so long.
“The silliest question I have ever been asked was, you’re in the panto - which one is it?”
Glynn praised audiences in Rhyl as “brilliant”, after performing in the town in the past, and said he was looking forward to his sixth outing as part of UK productions.
