NEWTOWN travel to Airbus UK Broughton on Sunday (2.30pm) with the aim of making more room between themselves and the Welsh Premier basement.
Manager Bernard McNally told his players to celebrate last week’s 2-1 win over Afan Lido, before resuming their battle against the drop at Broughton.
“It was a great win,” said McNally. “It was so pleasing to get a win under our belts after what has been a bad start to the season.
“It is another big game at Broughton, with many people surprised to see them where they are in the table at the moment.”
McNally will once again shuffle his pack with Luke Boundford making a solid attacking debut against Lido, while match winner Shane Sutton revelled in midfield.
“After the opening month we have realised we must adapt to compete in this league.
“We have added a little more strength to each area of the pitch and it paid dividends in the Lido win.”
McNally insisted the win would not be going to the players heads, with the squad put through their paces in midweek.
“We must continue to give 100 per cent in every match,” warned McNally. “There are going to be games that we lose this season but it is vital we continue to keep on taking points off the teams around us.”
Midfielder Matty Cook returns from holiday to face his former club while ex-Newtown skipper Adam Worton lines-up for Airbus.
