THE curtain call has come for a theatre after a £750,000 renovation.
Theatr Colwyn, Colwyn Bay, opened its doors to the public after nearly a year of renovation work, which transformed the 125 year old building. The theatre now has a new glass frontage with the original sandstone brickwork and improved disabled access.
There is a ground-floor bar and a large community room on the first floor, which has already been booked for group meetings and similar events.
The theatre began its new season with a performance of Godspell, which saw residents and drama lovers return to the building in their hundreds.
Theatre Manager Phil Batty said: "The job's a good one - we've been opening the doors during the day and starting to bring people to the theatre as a social meeting place. It's a focal point because of its location, and everyone loves it."
Commercial film releases will continue at the theatre's cinema, as well as film club evenings.
A community event of traditional Welsh folk and choral music will be held on the evening of Thursday September 22 to celebrate the re-opening, and theatre patron Terry Jones will cut the ribbon at an official opening of the building on October 15.
