TWO junior soccer stars have been called up to the Welsh ladies squad for the upcoming Celtic Nations Tournament.

Emilie Revitt and Georgia Williams, who both play for Kinmel Bay Girls, have been called up to the Under 16s squad to take on Scotland, the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Rhyl High School pupil Emilie and Georgia, of Emrys Ap Iwan, who both play as left wingers, were notified of their selection last week after coming through national trials held in Cardiff.

Emilie said: “I got a letter telling me I’d been picked last week. I was really proud, it’s great to be picked for the Welsh squad.

“My team are really happy for me, and it was great to have a team mate picked as well.

Emilie also said she was greatful to the support shown by her school in developing her football skills.

“My school have been really supportive, they keep building me up and keep my confidence high,” she said.

“If my football career doesn’t take off, I’d love to be a PE teacher, and the school’s really supported me in that.

The tournament runs from April 11 - 14 at Glamorgan Sports Park, Treforest in South Wales.
