WAILING guitars and heart-pounding beats were served to rock-hungry audiences when Bloc Party performed live at Venue Cymru.
Visiting Llandudno as part of their Bloctober Tour, the critically acclaimed post-punk band brought their impressive back catalogue of pogo-inspiring hits and more recent electro-infused offerings to a hungry North Wales crowd.
Throwing out modern classics like the impressively executed Mercury alongside old favourites including Two More Years, This Modern Love and the warmly received Banquet, the band kept the pace up during their eagerly anticipated set.
Lead singer Kele Okereke kept the North Wales crowd motivated, while drummer Matt Tong admitted he had hurt his wrist throwing stones earlier in the day.
"I was trying to hit a seagull," he joked.
Although stand-out tunes from debut album The Silent Alarm saw a frenzy in the mosh-pit, highlights from later releases including Hunting For Witches added flavour to the show, and a mellow break with glockenspiel-accompanied Signs demonstrated the band's softer side.
But Bloc Party were certainly ready to rock.
Supported by a kaleidoscopic light show, the encore saw a frantic crowd respond positively to dance/rock track Flux as the four-piece rounded out the evening with an assault of thrashing guitars and fan-pleasing favourites.
