A CLASSIC panto villain will bring his dastardly deeds to Llandudno’s latest Christmas spectacular.

Michael Howe the villainous Captain Hook in Peter Pan at Venue Cymru from December 8-31, and the veteran stage and TV actor is relishing the chance to portray JM Barrie‘s creation.

He said: “For me, as an actor I look for the story, and Hook is a fascinating character.

“The theme is wonderful - along with Wind in the Willows and Alice in Wonderland, this is one of the great stories.”

Michael, who has relatives on Anglesey, appears alongside Blue Peter star Barney Harwood as Peter Pan, Isobel Hathaway as Tinkerbell and funny man John Evans as Smee.

Musical fans might be familiar with Michael from his many stage roles in productions such as Cats, and Michael is certainly no stranger to Venue Cymru.

He added: “It’s great to play here again. The last time I played here was with the original tour of Rat Pack, where I played Dean Martin.

“Before that it was High Society, and I’ve done filming here, so I’ve got an affinity with the place.”

High Society, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and 42nd Street.

The actor, who has also appeared in Hollyoaks and Casualty, is delighted that the production was to be screened live to Great Ormond Street Hospital patients today (Thursday, December 13).

He said: “I think it’s a great idea. It’s a feel good factor because everyone is contributing, and it’ll be great for the children, and I hope we get to speak to them personally.

“I think JM Barrie would approve.”

With magnificent scenery, beautiful costumes, an abundance of comedy and stunning flying sequences, Peter Pan promises to be superb entertainment for all ages.

Tickets are £20, £18, £15.
