SCOUT and Leaders from the Vale of Clwyd Scout District got together recently for a pre- Jamboree activity afternoon at The Ffrith in Prestatyn.
The Scouts and Leaders, along with a party from the Llangollen Scout Troop, met to enable those going to the Essex International Jamboree to get to know each other prior to their week long camp at Kirby-le-Stoken.
Activities during the afternoon inc
luded quad biking and indoor bowling.
There will be fifty Scouts and Leaders drawn from Carmel, Prestatyn, Rhyl, Ruthin and Llangollen travelling down to the Jamboree on July 26 to set up camp amongst scouters from such places as Canada, Uganda, Germany, Yorkshire and Surrey.
The theme for the camp is the environment with an emphasise on the protection of endangered animals and each sub-camp has been named after one of these animals.
The Vale of Clwyd contingent will be joining over seven hundred scouts and their leaders on the Orangutan sub-camp where the colour orange will be highlighted with a large orange tent, participants will all receive an orange scarve and the cafe on the camp is to be called the Borneo Bean.
The Jamboree camp site will have its own first aid provision, a mini supermarket, bank, cinema, cafes and virtual newspaper.
Activities will include sailing, rafting, hikes, assualt course, mountain biking and much, much more.
With an expected attendance of over 8000 and activities running throughout the week this promises to be a real adventure for all those attending.
