It was with incredibility that I read your article in the Journal on April 9 regarding 'recycling rejection.'
The council were quoted as having “not come across this situation before”.
I have also been in the same situation as Mr Owen, when I tried to dispose of bunk beds using my husband’s work vehicle.
I was told by the gentlemen at the tip that I c
ould not dispose of the beds because I was in a sign written van. However had my vehicle not been sign written that would have been fine. I then suggested I leave the van outside and walk the bunks into the tip, but no that was not acceptable either.
As a consequence of this experience I spent half an hour on the phone to a gentleman at the Bodelwyddan depot – but to no avail.
I feel that surely, if a van is sign written with an address and phone number is on it, which clearly proves it is a local vehicle it is a local vehicle it should be allowed to be used to dispose of household waste. My husband’s business is glass (as was stated on the van), therefore it doesn’t take a genius to work out that wooden bunk beds are not commercial waste!
There’s yet another example of “jobsworth”. Obviously our council tax is purely to pay for managers to sit in their offices and come up with stupid rules which will encourage fly tipping! Well done Denbighshire!
