Fond memories of Tom
I READ with sadness about the passing of Tom Parry (Journal, May 7).
I worked at Bodnant School way back in 1969 to 1974 as a nursery assistant and Tom was headmaster.
I remember it was the time of the mini skirt and we had to do yard duty.
It was pretty cold so we persuaded him to let us wear trousers. Not easy, but we won.
Also he asked if I would go across the road to the butchers and collect an order for him.
I did this and as I was crossing the road back to school the bag opened to show a sheep's head with the eyes staring at me.
I went into his office and said: "Don't ever do that to me again." He sat there and laughed at me.
I did collect other orders for him but luckily enough, no more eyes.
He was lovely and I really enjoyed working there for the five years.
My thoughts go out to his family.
