I AM aware of the continuing sagas surrounding the name of the road leading to Offa's Dyke School, Prestatyn and I wish to submit my proposal.
Historically, Welsh regiments and 'Pals' battalions trained in the surrounding fields before being slaughtered during the battles of Ypres in the First World War.
Ypres Road would remind us that our civil and human rights, currently being abused, have not been given by a benevolent government but taken in the blood and mud of Ypres.
My suggestion would also satisfy the Welsh language propagandists who will be forcing our elected council to employ Welsh speaking teachers in Offa's Dyke school, irrespective of our children's cultural needs and the expertise of teachers who have proven abilities. Some devotee could even corrupt Ypres Road into Ffordd Y Pres aptly translating into 'The Money Road'.
NIGEL POPE, Ffordd Penrhwylfa, Prestatyn
