The curtain will close on yet another season of spellbinding symphonies at Rhyl Town Hall - with an eye towards what's next.

After hosting 12 evenings showcasing a smorgasbord of the best classic music, Rhyl Music Club's North Wales International Concert Series 2017 -18 will reach its climax with the 13th and final show on March 21 with the masterfully modern bow work of the Karolos Ensemble.

Bringing together internationally acclaimed performers Harriet Mackenzie, Sarah-Jane Bradley and Graham Walker, the string ensemble fuse a more contemporary repertoire featuring the chamber music of Stephen Dodgson, reverent lip service to the canon with performances of Schubert and Beethoven.

The ensembles visit marks the return of the globetrotting, prolific violinist Mackenzie, who performed in Rhyl in 2012 with Kosmos and Balkan accordion maestro Milos Milivojevic.

Joining Mackenzie is award-winning cellist and conductor Graham Walker, who has performed as a soloist in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls across Europe and North and South America, studied mathematics as a Choral Scholar at Cambridge, and is currently progressing his cello skills at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

In 2008, Walker's playing scaled new heights with the mastery of all of Bach's cello suites in shows throughout the USA, an achievement he repeated with a spot at the Edinburgh International Festival.

Capping off the talented trio is violist Sarah-Jane Bradley, a first prize winner at Capellades and St Joan de Vilatorrada, Spain in 1995 who now selects upcoming talent for Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition.

As part of the trio's visit to Rhyl Music Club, the artists will visit Rhyl High, Ysgol Llywelyn and Ysgol Bryn Hedydd to share their experience with future generations of aspiring Rhyl talent.

Join the Karolos Ensemble for the finale of Rhyl Music Club's Concert Series at the Rhyl Town Hall on Wednesday, March 21 at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £12 on the door, or can be booked via rhylmusic.com.
