WITH record breaking entries last year and visitors from around the globe, the Berriew Show Committee is enthusiastic once again to ensure that everyone is guaranteed an enjoyable day when the 60th Annual Show takes place on Saturday, August 23.

To celebrate the anniversary the main ring attractions include 'The Bubble Story' performed by The Heir of Insanity, a spectacular show combining dance, acrobatics and acrobalance, telling a seductive story of attraction and compulsion.

And to e
nd the day's celebrations there will a fireworks display starting at around 8.30pm on the show field.

The show will take place on the Upper Rectory Field in the beautiful black and white village of Berriew, and will be officially opened at 1pm by this year's Show President, Mrs Ros Roberts.

"Miss Berriew Show 2008" – Sarah Andrews – along with her attendants William Burrows, William Taylor, Chloe Broxton and Kayleigh Groome, will arrive for the opening of the show on a float decorated by the international artist and sculptor Andrew Logan, of Berriew's Andrew Logan Museum of Sculpture.

The K9 Dog Display Team will be back in the main arena by popular demand, together with the Porthywaen Silver Band who played at the first Berriew Show.

Carnival floats are also welcomed back along with The Mid Wales Vintage Machinery Club and The Mobile Climbing Wall Challenge which is always popular with the younger generation as is the Mini Digger Competition with categories for 13 to 16 years and an open competition, in which competitors test their digger control skills while moving obstacles from left to right.

Can you beat the clock and win the first prize of £10?

The ever popular Punch and Judy Show, archery, fancy dress competition, magic show, dancing displays by Berriew YFC, face painting, bouncy castle, giant slide, jousting table, paint balling, and children's sports and races ensure a fun day out for the whole family.

The show will also feature classes for arts and crafts, cookery, horticulture, photography and a youth section; plus trade stands and the Rural Craft Marquee.

There will be horse and pony classes from 9.30am.

Entries will be taken on the field and all inquiries should be made to Rowena Andrew on 01686 650285.

The dog show will take place with entries being taken on the field from 12.45pm.
