OWNERS and their dogs are being invited to take part in a series of walks in memory of a guide dog.

The walks have been organised – across Caernarfon, Llandudno, the Vale of Clwyd and Wrexham – by guide dog supporters to raise £10,000, which will go towards naming a new puppy, Folly.

An earlier Folly, a German Shepherd, was one of the first four guide dogs ever trained in the UK.

She became the eyes of Bangor-born Thomas ap Rhys, a blinded ex-soldier, in 1931.

The first walk in memory of the original Folly took place in Prestatyn.

One walker who took part was Liz Dale, a puppy walker, with guide dog puppy Nectar.
