A TELEVISION talent show contestant is looking forward to carrying on his successful career after what has been an incredible journey.
Rhyl's James Stone wowed Britain's Got Talent judges Piers Morgan, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell at the penultimate semi-final stage of the competition with his version of the Tom Jones classic You Can Leave Your Hat On.
But despite his performance winning praise from the panel, comments comparing him to Luther Vandross and Cowell's description of him as a "very talented guy", James failed to make the show's final.
Thanks to the "exposure" offered by his Britain's Got Talent appearance, James, who has been on the live music circuit for many years and has played throughout the UK, India, Australia, South Africa, Holland, Norway and Ireland, has a series of gigs lined up locally to help keep him in the headlines.
He said: "The whole thing was fantastic. The size of the thing was only made real to me during the semi-final when I was introduced as the first act of the evening.
"I wouldn't describe it as nerves it was more relief at finally being allowed to get off the starting line because you build yourself up so much."
Britain's Got Talent is not the first TV talent competition James has entered having competed in Search for a Star and New Faces, and is pragmatic about the outcome this time.
While often younger contestants will be crushed by the result, veteran James can see the advantages of his experience.
He said: "I'm not disappointed. For me Britain's Got Talent was a platform. I only watched the show yesterday and I think I came across really well. I was pleased with my performance and the comments from the judges.
"They were all spot on."
James and his fiancee/manager Kim Hurst, who met during one of his gigs at Winkups Holiday Park, Towyn, have been inundated with offers.
James is expected to feature in Rhyl's Summer Pops Concert, will headline Llandudno's Emergency Services Weekend on August 2 and 3 and has confirmed that he will be at the auction for Rhys Thomas this Friday at the Travellers Inn, supporting what he calls "a very worthwhile cause".
