ONE of the most popular outfits on the North West jazz scene will be performing when the Laura Hassell Quintet come to Waen.
The band is led by Laura Hassell, an extremely talented young vocalist and pianist who was a finalist in the Perrier Awards 2000 and reached the semi-finals of the Young Jazz Musician of the Year competition.
During 2007, she twice appeared at New York's renowned Iridium Jazz Club and released her latest CD If I, which has been featured on the Jacqui Dankworth show on digital radio's Jazz Channel.
The quintet features renowned saxophonist Rob Buckland, who performs and records with such diverse groups as Andy Scott's twelve piece outfit Sax Assault, the Apitos Latin Big Band, the Apollo Sax Quartet, the Michael Nyman Band and his own Equivox Trio.
The Laura Hassell Quintet will be performing at the Farmers Arms, Waen, Nr St Asaph on Wednesday, June 18 at 8:30pm.
