TEACHERS from a Rhyl Primary have travelled to a school in India to as part of the latest phase of an ongoing project to educate children on the language, culture, heritage and curriculum of both the countries
Ysgol Llywelyn teachers Audrey Roberts and Geraint Rowe, were waved off by pupils as they set off on their two-week journey last week to the school, The Little Kingdom at Theni, Tamil Nadu, as part of an ongoing Global Schools Partnership Programme, which links both schools, funded by the British Council.
The sharing of information is conducted in a fun way with pupils involved with designing quizzes, projects and games.
One such game called, which proved a hit with pupils from Ysgol Llywelyn, was 'Vanigam' (Trade in English).
Based on Monopoly, the game featured all the important important cities of Tamil Nadu, leaders of the state and the services provided by the Government.
Details of festivals, rivers and the culture of Tamil Nadu are also incorporated in the game.
As pupils played the game, they learned about the towns they visited, which was highlighted in a handbook written by the children.

The Little Kingdom,

Theni,Tamil Nadu,India 22/07/2008 12:36:53
It is our pleasure to have partnership with your school. We have learnt many things about your culture, tradition and history. We celebrated Welsh day by wearing red clothes, making posters and preparing a Welsh pudding.
We had an exhibition based on your clothes, books, maps and toys. Some teachers from Wales came to our school and taught us some lessons which were interesting. We had lots of fun with the teachers.
We would like to continue our partnership!
From,
The Little Kingdom School council
