A Rhyl-based ambulance technician has become a premier champion at keeping the bugs at bay.
Sarah Davies, of Prestatyn, has become the first operational employee on the road in North Wales to pass a new e-learning programme: Healthcare Associated Infection Champion backed by the Welsh Assembly.

Sarah worked her way through 11 units to become a champion in infection prevention and control learning the principles of controlling the spread of infections.

Nich Woolf, north resource centre manager and Sarah’s mentor during the course, said: “I am very proud of how Sarah has dedicated her time to working through this course which will be of great benefit to her, her colleagues and also the patients she will work with. I hope as she is the first to pass this that others will follow her lead.

Conwy and Denbighshire locality ambulance officer Jason Williams, who presented Sarah with her certificate for passing the course, said: “Her role, combined with the cleanyourhands campaign the Trust is involved in to promote improving hand hygiene, will help us reduced the number of cross infections throughout North Wales.”
