PRESTATYN Rotary Club President Alun Jones, and his wife Mo, a member of the Inner Wheel Club of Prestatyn, recently undertook a charity walk with friends.
This year they decided as Mr Jones was President of Rotary that they should undertake a charity walk and do something a little bit more challenging.

They decided upon Offa's Dyke, a walk of 177 miles from Chepstow back home to Prestatyn and that the walk would be in aid of Chernobyl Children Lifeline.

They completed the walk in two weeks despite the difficult weather conditions including snow, hail, fog and rain.

The pair were rarely without company during the walk being joined by Rotarians, friends and former neighbours en route.

There were some memorable moments – walking World's End at Llangollen in the snow and the first glimpse of Prestatyn on the last leg from Bodfari.

Alun and Mo are grateful to all those who supported them on the walk and also to those who donated funds to the charity.

To date they have raised £2,300 which will be presented to Gerrie Bayley the local organiser of Chernobyl Children Lifeline at a party planned for the children when they come over from Belarus at the end of this month.
