A NEW history group is to be set up to ensure more can be made of one of the Vale of Clwyd's most prominent monuments.
Following a survey and public meeting organised by Vale of Clwyd MP Chris Ruane, many residents of Rhuddlan expressed an interest in setting up a history and environmental group.
Mr Ruane has set up a meeting for interested parties and is urging anyone else who would like to be involved to get in touch.
"One of the most positive things to come out over the controversy over Denbighshire County Council's proposals for a recycling unit in the village is the way it has galvanised the residents," he said.
"The survey conducted before the public meeting showed there was a great pride in the history of Rhuddlan and many people wanted to take this further and one way of achieving this is to set up a group which can then access additional funding.
"We can also look at ways we can tackle local environmental issues."
The meeting, which will be attended by representatives from Cadw and the county council, will be held at Ysgol y Castell, Rhuddlan, at 7pm on Friday, April 4.
