Rhyl and District Round Tables newest member was inducted recently at a presentation that involved a couple of birds and an elbow length glove.
It was an evening with a difference as 14 members of Rhyl Round Table were treated to an enthralling talk by Pam Toothill of Owl Rescue Centre of Corwen who brought along a rare wild barn owl and an African screech owl.
For nearly an hour, Round Table members were captivated by the plight of the barn owl's falling numbers due to loss of food sources due to habitat destruction, and the physical and behavioural differences between the barn owl, a night hunter, and its relative owls that fair much better to changes of environment.
Then Rhyl's newest member, Paul Waring, 24, from Rhuddlan, was inducted into Rhyl Table by chairman Mark Roberts as he handled the screech owl, a fitting end to a great evening.
Any young man between the ages of 18-45 looking for fellowship and a chance to make a contribution to the local community. If you are interested in finding out more then please contact Mark Roberts on 01745 342272.
