KEEPING it clean has paid off for the area's coastline.
The beaches at Prestatyn Central and Rhyl have been rewarded for their cleanliness levels by receiving the blue and yellow seaside award flag from Keep Wales Tidy.
Both beaches have met the European Union minimum standard of bathing water quality to
be part of the 111 beaches across Wales to receive the accolades in time for the Easter holiday season.
Other categories met by the beaches include dog ban areas, general safety, arrangements for disabled users and other requirements aimed at enhancing visitor enjoyment.
Iwan Prys-Jones, Denbighshire's corporate director for environment, said: "The council is delighted that both Rhyl and Prestatyn Central beaches have received this accolade and this is a testament to officers from the council who work tirelessly with partner agencies to make sure our beaches are kept clean for the enjoyment of both local residents and visitors. It also helps protect the environment along the coastal strip and we will continue to work to the best of our ability to maintain the high standards for which both beaches have been awarded and hope we can fly the flag for these beaches for years to come."
