DENBIGHSHIRE Heritage Service is set to celebrate Museums and Galleries Month in style during May by hosting a series of exciting events.
The Museums and Galleries Month is organised by The Campaign for Museums and is the UK’s largest celebration of its museums and galleries.

In Rhyl people can celebrate life at the beach with the Donkeys at the Seaside exhibition which runs from M
ay 1 to 31.

Visitors will see photographs that cover the last century of donkeys with their passengers on the beach in Rhyl.

On May 6 between 10.30am and 12pm there will be a jewellery making workshop and an opportunity to create your own jewellery surrounded by the history of Rhyl. Numbers are limited so book in advance on 01824 708281 or e-mail susan.dalloe@denbighshire.gov.uk.

If you drop into Rhyl Museum on May 28 at 10.30am, 11.30am, 2pm or 3.30pm you will be able to meet three of the sailors who sailed the high sea on the paddle streamer called the Denbigh. These actors will tell you the dramatised story of how the boat – that once plied its trade between Merseyside and Rhyl – became caught up in gun running during the American Civil War and sank off the coast of Texas.

And on May 30 between 10am and 4pm you can take part in creating a Merseyside Connections mosaic with artist, Trisha Jones.

Merseyside Connections is a project linked to Liverpool Capital of Culture. During 2008 a series of mosaics will be made across Denbighshire which will form a permanent mosaic trail across the county identifying the themes that link the two areas of Britain.

People visiting Prestatyn Bathhouse on May 10 between 11am and 3pm have another opportunity to meet Trisha and take part in creating a mosaic as part of the Merseyside Connections project which will eventually be set in the area.

For more information on these events and others taking place throughout the county call 01824 708281 or e-mail susan.dalloe@denbighshire.gov.uk.
