AN assistant solicitor employed by St Asaph-based Swayne Johnson has been appointed as the new legal company secretary of the North Wales International Music Festival Ltd.
Llyr Williams' main duties, which will be carried out on a voluntary basis, will be to ensure that the management committee acts in accordance with Company and Charity Law and works within the rules laid out in their Memorandum and Articles of Association. Llyr will also be responsible for ensuring that the Register of Directors, Members, Members' Interests and all other legal documents are kept up to date.

Denbigh-born Llyr is employed at the company's St Asaph office and specialises in residential and commercial conveyancing.

In his spare time, Llyr, a fluent Welsh speaker, does a lot of charity work and is an active member of the Denbigh & District Round Table and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Denbighshire Citizen's Advice Bureau. He has also had a long association with St Asaph Cathedral and the North Wales Music Festival and, with the exception of when he was studying to become a solicitor, has sung with the Cathedral Choir since 1987.

Llyr, said: "Similar to many of my colleagues at Swayne Johnson who use their expertise and give their time freely to help a wide variety of local organisations, carrying out such work also gives me great satisfaction and I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to use my expertise to help with the continued success of such a prestigious festival."

Welcoming Llyr's appointment, Heather Jones, festival administrator, said: "We are delighted to have Llyr as our new legal company secretary. The festival has over the years built a strong relationship with businesses in the area and we value Swayne Johnson's contribution to the continuing success of the North Wales International Music Festival.

Next year's festival will be held from 20 to the 27 September and work to organise the event is already well advanced.
