LOCAL car giant Slaters has given six Italian students an opportunity of valuable work experience as Electro Technicians and Motor Mechanics within the group.
The students, who are in Abergele for four weeks are from the State Technical Industrial institute of Silvio de Pretto, Schio, northern Italy in the province of Vicenza, and are part of an EU funded programme.

The Leonardo da Vinci Programme consists of vocational education training and aims to establish and strengthen the competitiveness of the European labour market by helping European citizens to acquire new skills, knowledge, qualifications and have them recognised across the borders.

The project is part of the ForTess & FORINS scheme which acts in the sector of instruction and vocational training and at strengthening the students’ knowledge of English by introducing them for work experience in the European labour market.

Delyth MacRae, Slaters Co-ordinator said: “We are very pleased to be able to offer these Italian youngsters work experience in the field of their expertise.

“Hopefully they will have gained a wealth of experience and are able to put the knowledge learnt into practice back home in Italy.

“The programme has worked extremely well with our staff, and we are currently in the process of selecting another six students for the autumn programme.”
