WITH the countdown to winter underway, a Rhyl employer has come up with a pioneering environmentally-friendly heating fuel which lowers carbon emissions and smells of vanilla.
The Cleaner Burning Kerosene (CBK), a UK first, has been designed and developed by Bayford Oil, a "green" champion, which employs 11 people at its North Wales depot in Kinmel Bay.
Bayford business manager Andrea Wardle said that initial feedback from domestic customers is very positive as CBK is rolled out across Bayford's depots in Wales and the Lake District.
Andrea commented: "CBK is extremely efficient and contains powerful dispersants that break up the sludge into smaller particles, so that they pass through the filter and are burned off. This reduces black smoke and lowers CO2 emissions.
"It is also proving cost effective as our customers' boilers require less maintenance and fewer call outs than previously - plus the vanilla aroma is a definite bonus."
A Sunday Times Best Small Company to Work For, Bayford & Co employs 191 people across its eight offices.
